Revegetation Challenges and Solutions Seminar
1 December 2009
360 Environmental’s Adam Harris attended the Revegetation Industry Association of Western Australia (RIAWA) seminar Revegetation Challenges & Solutions held on 9 & 10 November 2009 at the Technology Park in Bentley. The seminar was attended by revegetation practitioners and researchers with the common aim of developing new technologies, techniques and solutions for achieving best practice revegetation rehabilitation outcomes. Twenty speakers covered a multitude of aspects related to revegetation including climate change, seed sourcing, species selection, seedling propagation, training and quality control, budget planning, completion criteria, weed management and plant biology. A key theme of the seminar was challenging environments and speakers discussed revegetation and rehabilitation across various landscapes including agricultural, coastal, forest and mine sites. The unique and diverse natural landscape of Western Australia was a common thread through the seminar and reinforces the importance of excellent revegetation outcomes as part of a rehabilitation program. The diversity of the natural landscape in Western Australia is one of the reasons Adam is so enthusiastic about revegetation and rehabilitation projects. Adam has worked on several projects around the metropolitan area including the A-Class Reserve of Thompsons Lake and foredune restoration related to the Perth Desalination Plant at Kwinana.
