Below is a summary of one of our key mining projects and the various environmental activities that have been managed.

Client: Argyle Diamond Mine, Western Australia
Duration: 1994 - date

During the wet season hydrological data was collected and sediment analysis undertaken (to calculate total transfer load from the alluvial operation), stream velocity gauging, data downloading, calibration, maintenance and monitoring along Smoke Creek (a tributary of Lake Argyle), water quality testing, ground water monitoring and bore construction supervision for groundwater monitoring. Dry season tasks involved surveying, GPS, supervision of earthworks, erosion control planning and preparation, and oil spill response. Other tasks involved coordinating the rehabilitation program and conducting independent field research. Vegetation assessments of alluvial mining areas and rock waste trials in the open cut pit were conducted and support given to variousuniversity research projects from sediment runoff to PhD research into Spinifex (Plectrachne and Triodia sp.). The site’s first sustainability report was written in 2001, and more recently field research has included aquatic fauna impact studies associated with magnesium sulphate, produced as a result of rock waste excavation.
