AUDIT
Why Audit?
Audits are conducted with a view to improving the overall environmental performance of an organisation or project, through feedback and corrective action responses, communicated through audit results.
Once an Environmental Management System (EMS) has been established and implemented, or a series of Environmental Management Plans completed, verification of the effectiveness of the system is achieved by audits. Audits focus on areas of highest environmental risk as a priority. Areas that (or potentially may) result in a significant environmental impact, or where a serious non-conformance has been identified, must be documented and actioned as a priority.
The ISO 14001 environmental management system standard calls for the requirement for the auditing or the review of an environmental management system (EMS).
