Mine closure is increasingly understood to be a whole of mine life activity with the level of detail and resolution increasing as a mine operation matures.

The 360 Environmental team has managed the preparation of a Public Environmental Review (PER) for a major new mining project. We have a keen understanding of the regulatory landscape as it applies to mining. A part of the PER preparation we prepared a Conceptual Closure and Rehabilitation Strategy. Team members have also contributed to other site Closure Plans.

We have a multi-disciplinary team of environmental specialists and project managers. We also have cooperative arrangements with non-environmental specialists as required.

360 Environmental provides the following mine closure services to the mining industry to enable successful closure outcomes.

  • Closure project management.
  • Closure Management Systems – documenting accountabilities, timelines and knowledge retention strategies.
  • Plant and infrastructure decommissioning and asset disposal.
  • Rehabilitation - documentation, completion criteria, waste management and containment, permanent stable slopes, ecosystem reconstruction, research.
  • Stakeholder engagement – is a critical element for orderly closure including local communities, Government, NGOs and Traditional Owners. We facilitate two way communication to understand stakeholder preferences and to manage expectations.
  • Risk appreciation – identifying, rating and documenting closure risks leading to risk minimisation solutions.
  • Financial provision – detailed closure cost estimates for informed decision making.
